Therapy for People Who Are Ready to Actually Do Something With It
You can know your attachment style, understand your childhood, own three books about boundaries, have a color-coded planner, and still find yourself doing the exact thing you swore you were going to stop doing.
Welcome.
Denver Psychology Associates provides specialized therapy for adults navigating ADHD, trauma, relationships, grief, anxiety, family patterns, and major life transitions. Our therapists work with clients who want to understand themselves more deeply—but also want therapy to eventually translate into something different outside the therapy room.
We provide online therapy in Colorado and additional states based on clinician licensure, including online therapy in Florida, with specialized clinicians offering distinctly different approaches.
Because finding the right therapist matters considerably more than finding someone who technically treats your diagnosis.
ADHD & Executive Dysfunction Therapy
You bought the planner. That wasn't the problem.
Adult ADHD doesn't always look like obvious disorganization.
Sometimes it looks like a highly successful adult who manages enormous responsibilities at work and then spends four days avoiding a five-minute phone call.
Sometimes it looks like procrastination, time blindness, difficulty initiating tasks, emotional dysregulation, forgotten appointments, 37 organizational systems, or an uncanny ability to accomplish three weeks of work during the final six hours before a deadline.
Our ADHD therapy for adults focuses on both the practical realities of executive dysfunction and the emotional baggage that can accumulate after years of wondering why things that seem easy for everyone else require so much effort from you.
We particularly enjoy working with adults who received an ADHD diagnosis later in life. Finally having an explanation can be validating. It can also make you reconsider decades of experiences you previously interpreted as laziness, inconsistency, being “too much,” or simply not trying hard enough.
We'll work on practical strategies.
We'll also talk about the shame, perfectionism, relationships, compensating, and exhaustion underneath them.

Trauma Therapy
Your trauma is very impressed by your self-awareness.
You understand what happened.
You understand why it affected you.
You may even be able to identify precisely how it shows up in your relationships.
Unfortunately, your nervous system did not attend the seminar.
Our trauma therapy helps adults understand and change the ways difficult experiences continue to influence their emotions, relationships, sense of safety, boundaries, and behavior long after the original experience has ended.
Trauma doesn't always look like falling apart. Sometimes it looks like becoming exceptionally good at functioning.
Hyper-independence. Perfectionism. People-pleasing. Reading the room. Staying productive. Anticipating problems. Taking care of everyone. Being fantastic during emergencies and strangely uncomfortable when everything is fine.
Our therapists draw from trauma-focused, relational, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, somatic, and experiential approaches depending on the clinician and client.
For clients interested in processing trauma beyond traditional conversation, Brainspotting therapy with Janae Gardner, LMHC may offer another way to explore experiences that don't seem particularly interested in leaving just because you've talked about them.
The goal isn't forgetting your past.
It's making sure your past isn't still running the meeting.

Therapy for High-Achieving Women
Big trauma. Bigger careers.
You built the career.
You handle the pressure.
People trust you when something needs to get done.
And somewhere along the way, being extraordinarily capable may have become both your greatest strength and your most exhausting coping mechanism.
Our therapy for high-achieving women is designed for women navigating the intersection of professional success, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, perfectionism, relationships, family expectations, and the enormous amount of invisible work involved in keeping everything running.
Maybe your ability to perform under pressure is genuinely one of your strengths.
Maybe you also learned that being competent was safer than needing someone else.
Therapy isn't about making ambitious women less ambitious. It's about figuring out which parts of your ambition genuinely belong to you—and which parts developed because achievement once provided safety, control, approval, or worth.
You can be driven without being relentlessly hard on yourself.
You can be dependable without becoming responsible for everyone.
And you can have an impressive résumé without making competence your entire personality.

Family-of-Origin & Intergenerational Trauma Therapy
Your childhood keeps joining your adult relationships without being invited.
Maybe your family looked great from the outside.
Maybe your parents were successful, hardworking, generous, complicated, emotionally unavailable—or some deeply confusing combination of all of the above.
Maybe you had opportunities and stability while also learning that emotions were inconvenient, conflict should be avoided, achievement earned approval, or needing other people was risky.
Now you're an adult.
And somehow those dynamics have followed you into your marriage, friendships, boundaries, career, and relationship with yourself.
Our family-of-origin therapy and intergenerational trauma therapy help adults explore the patterns they inherited, the roles they learned to play, and which ones they would rather not keep performing forever.
Therapy does not require declaring your parents villains.
Two things can be true: they may have done the best they could, and what happened may still have affected you.
We're interested in what you want to do with that information now.

Relationship & Family Pattern Therapy
Sometimes the argument is about the dishes. Usually, it isn't only about the dishes.
Adult relationships have a remarkable ability to locate every unresolved issue you thought you'd handled.
Communication difficulties, recurring conflict, resentment, emotional distance, people-pleasing, avoidance, boundary problems, attachment patterns, ADHD-related conflict, and family expectations can all shape the way we show up with the people closest to us.
Our relationship therapy helps clients understand what keeps happening underneath the argument itself.
Why do you immediately become defensive?
Why do you shut down?
Why are you responsible for everyone's feelings?
Why are you simultaneously furious that everyone expects you to take care of everything?
Why did one mildly irritated facial expression just transport you directly back to childhood?
Awareness is useful.
Changing the pattern is better.

Family Planning, Pregnancy & Motherhood
Having a baby? Your childhood would like a word.
You can research the stroller, compare daycare waitlists, build the registry, read the parenting books, and still avoid discussing some of the things that may matter considerably more once the baby arrives.
Who carries the mental load?
How will responsibilities actually be divided?
What happens to your career?
What role will grandparents have?
How do you want to handle conflict?
Which parts of your childhood do you want your child to experience?
Which parts end with you?
Our family planning therapy supports women considering children, trying to conceive, pregnant, preparing for motherhood, or navigating the enormous identity shift that can accompany becoming a parent.
Therapy can provide room to think intentionally about your relationship, family expectations, boundaries, career, identity, and the kind of home you want to create before everyone is operating on three hours of sleep.
You don't need to have had a terrible childhood to want to parent differently.
CTA: Add therapy to the baby registry →
Grief & Loss Therapy
There is no five-stage punch card.
Grief is not particularly interested in your schedule.
It can show up after the death of someone you love, the end of a relationship, pregnancy loss, family estrangement, a major health change, or the loss of a future you thought you were going to have.
Our grief therapy provides space to process loss without treating grief like a problem you're supposed to solve efficiently.
Janae Gardner, LMHC, has a particular interest in grief work and can incorporate traditional psychotherapy alongside Brainspotting, somatic exploration, poetry, writing, and creative reflection when those approaches resonate with the client.
You don't need to “move on.”
The work is learning how to carry something differently when you cannot change the fact that it happened.

Anxiety, Stress & Burnout Therapy
Being good at functioning doesn't mean you're okay.
Anxiety can be obvious: racing thoughts, panic, constant worry, difficulty sleeping.
It can also be extremely productive.
Overpreparing. Checking everything twice. Replaying conversations. Anticipating everyone else's needs. Staying constantly busy. Becoming the person who handles everything because trusting someone else to do it feels somehow worse.
Our anxiety therapy and stress and burnout therapy help adults understand what's underneath the constant mental activity while developing practical strategies for managing it differently.
The goal isn't to transform you into someone who never worries.
It's to stop requiring your nervous system to operate like every Tuesday afternoon is a developing emergency.
CTA: Tell your fight-or-flight response we're literally just answering emails →
Women's Mental Health
You are not a public utility.
Women are often the community builders—the people maintaining relationships, remembering birthdays, checking in, coordinating family logistics, carrying emotional labor, organizing the dinner, managing the household, supporting coworkers, and somehow knowing who needs what before they ask.
That's meaningful.
It's also exhausting.
Our therapy for women creates room to examine anxiety, ADHD, trauma, relationships, motherhood, identity, body image, self-esteem, career pressure, family expectations, and the invisible labor that can come with being everyone's exceptionally competent person.
Community care should include you.
Revolutionary, we know.

Brainspotting & Creative Therapy
Your brain gets it. Let's try something else.
Sometimes you've explained the experience enough.
You know what happened. You understand the pattern. You can tell the story beautifully.
And something still feels stuck.
Brainspotting therapy is one of the approaches Janae Gardner, LMHC, can incorporate for clients interested in exploring emotional experiences beyond traditional talk therapy.
Janae's work may also incorporate somatic awareness, poetry, writing, metaphor, and creative reflection based on the individual client.
You do not have to be artistic.
You do not have to write a poem.
And there will be no mandatory interpretive dance.
It's simply permission for therapy to use more than one language.

Online Therapy
Therapy without adding a commute to your emotional problems.
Denver Psychology Associates provides online therapy with clinicians licensed across multiple states.
Telehealth allows you to meet with your therapist from home, your office, or another private location without adding traffic, parking, and another logistical task to an already overcrowded calendar.
Rhiana Turner provides online psychotherapy for adults in Colorado, Florida, Texas, and Kansas. Availability with other DPA clinicians varies according to individual licensure.

Immigration Psychological Evaluations
Your story deserves to be documented carefully.
Denver Psychology Associates provides immigration psychological evaluations for individuals and families involved in immigration proceedings.
Rhiana Turner has specialized training in forensic immigration evaluations and provides comprehensive assessments designed to document relevant psychological history, symptoms, functioning, trauma exposure, family circumstances, and potential psychological hardship.
Evaluations may be appropriate for matters involving I-601 and I-601A hardship waivers, cancellation of removal, asylum cases, VAWA petitions, and U Visa and T Visa cases.
Immigration evaluations are different from psychotherapy. The evaluator's role is to conduct an independent clinical assessment, document findings carefully, and prepare a professional report that can be reviewed by the client's attorney and included with the broader legal case.
We work collaboratively with immigration attorneys while maintaining the independence and objectivity required of a forensic evaluator.

Clinical Supervision for Therapists
Because “my supervisor said just trust your clinical judgment” is not supervision.
Rhiana Turner provides clinical supervision for counselors and addiction professionals developing their clinical skills, professional identity, case conceptualization, documentation practices, and confidence as therapists.
Supervision is direct, collaborative, and practical. Expect actual discussion of your cases, ethical considerations, clinical decision-making, boundaries, documentation, countertransference, professional development, and the uncomfortable gray areas that graduate school could not possibly fit into one ethics course.
The goal is not to create therapists who practice exactly like Rhiana.
It's to help clinicians understand why they're making the decisions they're making—and become increasingly capable of making those decisions independently.
CTA: “Sounds good” is not clinical supervision →
Professional Consultation & Training
For when the problem is bigger than one therapy session.
Rhiana Turner also provides mental health consultation and professional training informed by experience across private practice, community mental health, addiction treatment, justice-involved populations, trauma work, and interdisciplinary care.
Consultation and educational offerings can address topics including trauma-informed care, ADHD and executive functioning, psychopharmacology education for therapists, clinical decision-making, community mental health, and complex behavioral health populations.
Programs can be tailored to the needs of clinicians, practices, organizations, and interdisciplinary teams.
