Friendship Changes & Breakups
Romantic relationships aren't the only ones that can break your heart.
Adult friendships can be complicated.
People move. Priorities change. Someone gets married. Someone has children. Someone stops texting back.
Someone you've known for fifteen years suddenly doesn't seem to know you anymore.
And because friendship loss doesn't always receive the same recognition as a romantic breakup, you may find yourself grieving something enormously important while everyone else assumes you'll simply make new friends.
Therapy can help you process friendship breakups, changing social circles, loneliness, conflict, and the complicated experience of outgrowing—or being outgrown by—someone you once expected to know forever.
You don't have to minimize a loss just because nobody filed paperwork.
What Therapy With Dacre Looks Like
First, we figure out who we're actually working with.
Therapy begins with an intake designed to understand the fuller context of your life—not just the symptom that finally convinced you to make an appointment.
Dacre will want to understand your history, relationships, identities, current stressors, strengths, and what you hope might be different as a result of therapy.
From there, you'll collaboratively create goals and begin looking more closely at the patterns underneath what's bringing you in.
Dacre's style is warm, relational, collaborative, and exploratory. Sessions are a place to slow things down, get curious, make connections, and develop a better understanding of why certain experiences, relationships, or emotions keep affecting you the way they do.
You don't need to perform insight.
We'll find it together.
